No. Slavery is barbaric. Creating a set of racial categories with the sole purpose of justifying the rape, murder and domination of communities worldwide is barbaric. Shooting people instead of going through due legal process is barbaric. Literally the opposite of civilised.

If you want to talk barbarism, the systematic racism affecting African Americans tops the list. Updating the definition of a dangerously misused term doesn't even come close.
